Anowara Bibi, a woman farmer from Polashguri village, has taken important steps towards improving her family’s food security and livelihood with support from CRR. This year, she started her first kitchen garden after receiving guidance and encouragement from the organization. Through the kitchen garden, her family is now able to consume fresh vegetables regularly, helping them save money on household food expenses while improving their daily nutrition. Anowara also shared that she happily distributed vegetables from her garden to some of her neighbours and encouraged other families in the village to start kitchen gardens for better food and nutrition security. Her initiative has inspired positive discussions within the community about self-reliance and healthy food practices. In addition to the kitchen garden, Anowara cultivated maize for the first time on one bigha of land. With training and technical guidance provided by CRR, she gained the confidence to adopt this new agricultural practice. CRR’s Community Resource Person, Mr. Hassen Mehedi, regularly visited her field and provided continuous support throughout the cultivation process. Anowara’s experience reflects how timely guidance, community support, and sustainable farming practices can help rural women farmers improve their livelihoods and build confidence for the future.

Horichoron Daimary, a farmer from No.1 Goladangi village, had agricultural land that remained mostly unused. During a village visit, CRR staff motivated him to start maize cultivation and explained the benefits of better land use and improved income opportunities. With support from CRR and coordination with the Zonal Research Station, Gossaigaon, maize seeds were arranged for him. Although it was his first experience with maize farming, Horichoron cultivated maize on about 2.5 bigha of land. CRR staff regularly guided him on planting methods, irrigation, fertilizer application, and crop care. With continuous support and training, the maize crop grew successfully, and the field showed healthy growth. Horichoron expressed happiness and satisfaction with the outcome, feeling encouraged by the success of his first maize cultivation experience.
